Heavy equipment operator — Cook County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a heavy equipment operator in Cook County, Illinois. You will work at a road and highway construction project. Your main tasks: • Lift and place pipes, manholes and precast sections with the bucket and chains • Excavate trenches for water, sewer and cable runs • Dig foundation trenches and footings to the marked depths and levels • Backfill trenches and compact the fill in layers • Swap buckets and attachments — rock breaker, grab, ripper, auger • Strip and stockpile topsoil ready for reuse Ideal candidate: • Able to read drawings, setting-out pegs and level pegs • Confident working to fine grade and tight tolerances • Good awareness of underground services and exclusion zones Full-time with occasional weekends.
