Urgent requirement: we are hiring a counter butcher in Lamar County, Alabama. The job is at an abattoir or slaughterhouse. Requirements: • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required • Physically fit to lift carcasses and stand all day On a typical shift you will portion steaks, chops and cutlets to the ordered weights; run the band saw to cut cleanly through bone; weigh, price and label cuts for the display case; monitor chiller and freezer temperatures to keep the cold chain; keep HACCP hygiene records and sanitise the block and tools; sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone. Meals and transport allowance provided. Rotating shifts. Walk-in interviews this week.
