Great opportunity: we are hiring a retail butcher in Hockley County, Texas. You will work at a busy retail butcher's shop. Your main tasks: • Take customer orders and advise on cuts and cooking • Portion steaks, chops and cutlets to the ordered weights • Sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone • Run the band saw to cut cleanly through bone • Weigh, price and label cuts for the display case • Break down beef, mutton and chicken carcasses into primal cuts You should have: • Comfortable working in cold rooms and chillers • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required • Food hygiene / HACCP certificate Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
