Requirements: • Good eyesight and steady hands for close-tolerance work • Physically fit to stand and lift workpieces • Able to grind and set HSS cutters Day to day you will select and fit end mills, face mills and slot drills into collets and arbors; set up and operate vertical and horizontal milling machines; run first-off parts and check dimensions before batch production; machine slots, pockets, flats, keyways and contours to drawing; mount workpieces in machine vices, clamps and fixtures and check for square; set tool offsets and the work zero (G54) using an edge finder or probe.
