Day to day you will direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio; attach wire rope and chain slings to loads using shackles and hooks; check sling angles to stay within the working load limit; read lift plans and method statements before starting; calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift; establish exclusion zones and keep workers clear of the lift area.
