The role involves: • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring You should have: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding Six days a week, one day off.
