On a typical shift you will direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio; inspect slings, shackles and eyebolts for wear, kinks and cracks before each use; guide loads through tight openings into their final position; calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift; read lift plans and method statements before starting; coordinate tandem and multi-crane lifts with the signaller.
