Ideal candidate: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Basic grinding and fettling skills The role involves: • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
