Day to day you will stack and store materials safely to avoid wastage; set out levels with line and plumb under the mason's direction; break out old walls and concrete with a jackhammer breaker; fix and strip shuttering and formwork for beams and columns; mix concrete and mortar to the correct ratio, by hand or in a pan mixer; dig foundation trenches and pits with pick and shovel. You should bring able to follow the mason's and supervisor's instructions; able to lift and carry heavy loads such as 50 kg cement bags all day; basic knowledge of hand tools like shovel, trowel and breaker.
