You should have: • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through Day to day you will inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion; read the WPS and weld to the specified parameters; set up the argon shielding gas and check the flow rate at the regulator; grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper; weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions; carry out 6G pipe welds where required.
