You should have: • Sound knowledge of lap lengths, cover and bar spacing • Physically fit for heavy lifting and long spells bending and kneeling • Confident tying with a tie hook and handling binding wire On a typical shift you will lay and tie mesh for slabs and ground-bearing floors; set out starter bars and column dowels for the next lift; bend bars to shape on a bar bending machine; place main bars and distribution bars to the marked spacing; lap and splice bars to the specified lap length; cut rebar to length with a bar cutter or angle grinder.
