Laundry presser — Derby

Immediate opening: we are hiring a laundry presser in Derby, England. You will work at a dry cleaner's. Day-to-day duties: • Spray water or starch to set sharp creases on trousers and shirts • Fuse interlinings and fusible tape on the fusing press • Set the iron temperature to suit cotton, silk, wool and synthetic fabrics • Use a pressing cloth to protect delicate fabrics • Clean and descale the iron soleplate and steam vents • Shape collars, cuffs and lapels using a tailor's ham and sleeve board Requirements: • Comfortable standing long shifts in a hot, humid environment • Aware of steam iron safety and basic machine upkeep • Physically fit to lift bundles and handle repetitive work Rotating shifts.
