Immediate opening: we are hiring a blocklayer in Gwynedd, Wales. You will work at a groundworks and structures site. Day to day you will mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser; spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel; setting out walls from the drawings and marking the brick gauge; cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder; laying bricks to the line, level and plumb; buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge. You should have: • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
