Immediate opening: we are hiring a formwork carpenter in Carroll County, Illinois. The job is at a precast concrete yard. Requirements: • Physically fit for heavy lifting and long shifts • Confident working at height on scaffold and decking • Knows de-shuttering times and concrete curing Your main tasks: • Fix soldiers, walers and tie rods to resist the concrete pressure • Set up adjustable steel props and falsework to support the slab decking • Box out openings for doors, windows and service penetrations • Strike and strip the formwork once the concrete has cured • Check alignment with spirit level, plumb bob and string line • Repair damaged plywood and timber shutters Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
