Fettler — Cheboygan County

Now hiring: we are hiring a fettler in Cheboygan County, Michigan. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. Day-to-day duties: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles What we are looking for: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection Overtime paid at a premium rate.
