Ideal candidate: • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Able to pass a practical weld test on the first day Day-to-day duties: • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion • Run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints • Grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper At least 2 year(s) in a similar role.
