Vacancy available: foundry worker (Iowa)

We are recruiting: we are hiring a foundry worker in Union County, Iowa. You will work at a busy iron foundry. Ideal candidate: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry Day-to-day duties: • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
