Your main tasks: • Inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut • Strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal • Keep the arc length and travel speed consistent • Select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel • TIG weld aluminium sections after cleaning off the oxide layer • Tack weld parts to hold the fit-up before the final run Ideal candidate: • Steady hand and good hand-eye coordination • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols 4+ years on the tools preferred.
