Brick mason — Essex County

Immediate opening: we are hiring a brick mason in Essex County, Virginia. What we are looking for: • CSCS card or willingness to obtain one • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks On the job you will handle: • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Building cavity walls and bedding in wall ties and insulation • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
