Furnace operator — Blackford County

Now hiring: we are hiring a furnace operator in Blackford County, Indiana. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. On the job you will handle: • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch You should have: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Full-time, day shift.
