Foundry operative • Copper River Census Area, Alaska

Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Copper River Census Area, Alaska. Day to day you will melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale. You should have: • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor 6+ years on the tools preferred.
