Immediate opening: we are hiring a construction labourer in Adams County, Iowa. You will be based with a civil contractor. On the job you will handle: • Dig foundation trenches and pits with pick and shovel • Break out old walls and concrete with a jackhammer breaker • Set out levels with line and plumb under the mason's direction • Clear debris and sweep the slab before the next pour • Bend and tie rebar with binding wire for slabs and columns • Mix concrete and mortar to the correct ratio, by hand or in a pan mixer Ideal candidate: • Basic knowledge of hand tools like shovel, trowel and breaker • Able to lift and carry heavy loads such as 50 kg cement bags all day Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
