Now hiring: we are hiring a shakeout operator in Mercer County, Kentucky. You will work in the melting bay of a steel foundry. You should have: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection Day-to-day duties: • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings $2,700 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
