Furnace operator — Macon County

Immediate opening: we are hiring a furnace operator in Macon County, Illinois. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. On a typical shift you will cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle. Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Rotating shifts.
