Now hiring: we are hiring a steel fixing chargehand in Kankakee County, Illinois. You will work at a high-rise construction project. Your main tasks: • Lap and splice bars to the specified lap length • Tie bar intersections with binding wire using a tie hook or pliers • Set out starter bars and column dowels for the next lift • Fit mechanical couplers where shown on the drawings • Place main bars and distribution bars to the marked spacing You should have: • Physically fit for heavy lifting and long spells bending and kneeling • Own basic tools such as pliers, tie hook, tape and level Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
