Now hiring: we are hiring a blocklayer in Amherst County, Virginia. You will work at a residential building site. You should have: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks On the job you will handle: • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser • Setting out walls from the drawings and marking the brick gauge • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays • Erecting and working off trestles and scaffold lifts 3+ years on the tools preferred.
