On a typical shift you will man the entry gate and check visitor IDs and gate passes; frisk people and run bag checks at the entry point; operate the metal detector and hand-held scanner at the door; log every visitor and vehicle in the duty register; detain shoplifters or trespassers and hand them over to police; check fire exits, locks, gates and seals during rounds.
