Now hiring: we are hiring a crane operator in Somerset, England. You will hoist, slew and lower loads smoothly and under control; fit the counterweights and check the ground bearing pressure; work out the load weight and the lifting radius; follow hand signals and radio calls from the banksman or slinger; rig and sling loads using slings, shackles and spreader beams; help set out the lift plan and barrier off the exclusion zone. You should have: • Physically fit to climb ladders and work long shifts • Able to read load charts and lifting plans Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. £1,900 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
