Gang bricklayer — Dutchess County

Immediate opening: we are hiring a gang bricklayer in Dutchess County, New York. You will be based at a renovation and extension job. Day-to-day duties: • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Building cavity walls and bedding in wall ties and insulation • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Bedding in air bricks, weep holes and wall starters • Forming arches, piers and reveals around openings Ideal candidate: • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently • Physically fit for lifting bricks and blocks all day • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
