Now hiring: system formwork carpenter (Kano State)

Great opportunity: we are hiring a system formwork carpenter in Gwarzo, Kano State. The job is at a precast concrete yard. Day-to-day duties: • Strike and strip the formwork once the concrete has cured • Watch the formwork during concreting and tighten up any movement • Box out openings for doors, windows and service penetrations • Cut and assemble plywood and timber panels for columns, beams and slabs • Read formwork drawings and setting-out marks to position the shutters • Fix soldiers, walers and tie rods to resist the concrete pressure Requirements: • Physically fit for heavy lifting and long shifts • Knows de-shuttering times and concrete curing • Sound understanding of props, bracing and load-bearing Part-time with flexible hours.
