Furnace operator — Val Verde County

Now hiring: we are hiring a furnace operator in Val Verde County, Texas. You will be based in the fettling and dressing shop. Day to day you will check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity. You should have: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection Rotating shifts.
