Great opportunity: we are hiring a core maker in Greensville County, Virginia. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry Your main tasks: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
