Now hiring: we are hiring a gtaw welder in Gateshead, England. You will work in a pipe-spool fabrication yard. On the job you will handle: • Grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper • Feed the filler rod by hand while controlling the weld puddle • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Weld stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel in thin gauges • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) You should have: • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through • Able to pass a practical weld test on the first day • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight At least 1 year(s) in a similar role.
