Day-to-day duties: • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture Ideal candidate: • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling 6+ years on the tools preferred.
