Furnace operator — Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area

Join our team: we are hiring a furnace operator in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska. You will be based at a busy iron foundry. What we are looking for: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Day to day you will fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring. 2+ years on the tools preferred.
