Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Avery County, North Carolina. The job is in the fettling and dressing shop. On the job you will handle: • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity Requirements: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal Full-time with occasional weekends.
