Pipe tig welder — Edwards County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a pipe tig welder in Edwards County, Texas. The job is at a busy sheet-metal workshop. Day-to-day duties: • Clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding • Prep and fit up the joint, then lay tack welds before the full run • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Strike and hold a stable arc with a non-consumable tungsten electrode • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) Requirements: • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height Rotating shifts.
