The role involves strip topsoil and stockpile it for later reuse; cut and fill ground to the levels marked on the grade stakes; form embankments and batter slopes to the required angle; carry out pre-start checks on tracks, hydraulics, coolant and engine oil; work to the dig plan and the banksman's signals.
