Banksman — Solano County

We are recruiting: we are hiring a banksman in Solano County, California. You will be based at a container port. You should have: • Proven experience as a rigger on construction or industrial sites • Valid rigging / lifting certificate or banksman-slinger ticket • Sound knowledge of working load limits and sling angles Your main tasks: • Coordinate tandem and multi-crane lifts with the signaller • Take part in toolbox talks and pre-lift briefings • Calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift • Tag and quarantine any damaged or out-of-date rigging gear • Secure loads with turnbuckles, chain blocks and lever hoists • Attach wire rope and chain slings to loads using shackles and hooks Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
