Requirements: • Aware of steam iron safety and basic machine upkeep • Comfortable standing long shifts in a hot, humid environment • A keen eye for scorch, shine and uneven creases On a typical shift you will fuse interlinings and fusible tape on the fusing press; use a pressing cloth to protect delicate fabrics; shape collars, cuffs and lapels using a tailor's ham and sleeve board; keep the boiler topped up and hold steady steam pressure; check every piece for scorch marks, shine and water spots; spray water or starch to set sharp creases on trousers and shirts.
