Immediate opening: sewing machine operator (Iowa)

We are recruiting: we are hiring a sewing machine operator in Mahaska County, Iowa. You will be based in a sampling and tailoring workshop. Day-to-day duties: • Match notches and ply, lining up checks and stripes before stitching • Change needles, presser feet and folders to suit the fabric and operation • Stitch seams, hems, side seams and shoulder joins to the marked seam allowance • Keep an even stitch density (SPI) and a straight, consistent seam line • Press open seams or use a folder/binder attachment for bound edges • Inspect each piece for skipped stitches, broken thread and needle holes What we are looking for: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Good eyesight and steady hands for fine, accurate stitching Six days a week, one day off.
