Foundry operative — Russell County

Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Russell County, Alabama. The job is in the fettling and dressing shop. Day-to-day duties: • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges Requirements: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding Pay around $3,400 per month, based on your experience.
