Requirements: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings The role involves: • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant Rotating shifts.
