Vacancy available: we are hiring a gang bricklayer in Charlotte County, Virginia. The job is on a new-build development. Requirements: • Comfortable working at height on scaffolding • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying an advantage Your main tasks: • Building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses • Checking every course for height and level with a gauge rod • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. We offer $22 per hour plus benefits. Full-time, day shift. Walk-in interviews this week.
