Furnace operator — Jefferson County

Join our team: we are hiring a furnace operator in Jefferson County, Iowa. You will be based in the melting bay of a steel foundry. You should have: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards On a typical shift you will shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity. 5+ years on the tools preferred.
