Steel erection rigger — Lamar County

Join our team: we are hiring a steel erection rigger in Lamar County, Alabama. You will be based at a shipyard. What we are looking for: • Sound knowledge of working load limits and sling angles • Sharp eye for safety and hazard awareness • Ability to read lift plans and rigging diagrams The role involves: • Establish exclusion zones and keep workers clear of the lift area • Direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio • Set up spreader bars and lifting beams for long or awkward loads • Tag and quarantine any damaged or out-of-date rigging gear • Attach wire rope and chain slings to loads using shackles and hooks • Select the correct slings, shackles and chains for each load's weight Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
