Furnace operator — Louisa County

Immediate opening: we are hiring a furnace operator in Louisa County, Iowa. Your main tasks: • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Performance bonus on top of base pay.
