Foundry operative — Clayton County

Great opportunity: we are hiring a foundry operative in Clayton County, Iowa. Day-to-day duties: • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects Ideal candidate: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Full-time with occasional weekends.
