Fettler — Fife

Now hiring: we are hiring a fettler in Fife, Scotland. The job is in the fettling and dressing shop. The role involves carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring; melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity. Requirements: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough. Part-time with flexible hours. Overtime paid at a premium rate. Walk-in interviews this week.
