Ideal candidate: • Sound knowledge of argon gas settings and tungsten selection • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols Day to day you will sharpen tungsten electrodes and fit the correct gas cup size; inspect welds visually for porosity, cracks and undercut; keep the arc length and travel speed consistent; grind, blend and polish finished welds to a clean finish; weld thin stainless steel sheet without burning through; back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise.
